Brinkburn Priory, Northumberland

In the east of Rothbury, a medieval monastery was built along the bend of the River Coquet. Brink Priory was built later than the year of 1135 by William Bertram inspired by both Norman and Gothic architectural style.

The Brinkburn Priory was mainly used by the Augustinian Order, and though was left unattended for several years, it was restored back in the 19th century and preserved until the present day. This monastery is one of the major tourist spots in Northumberland as it is also known to be the first Gothic inspired structure within England.

The surrounding river near the priory makes for one picturesque view for visitors and the lush greeneries scattered through its grounds make it a relaxing place to spend time

More about Brinkburn Priory

The elegant structure is adorned with stained glass window that was carefully created to match the Gothic inspired building.

Couples often choose Brinkburn Priory as the location and place for their exchange of vows because the site offers solemnity and serenity not only for the wedding pair but also for their guests. Recently, it has been opened as a lodging and guest house for tourists and travellers.
