Rothbury is a small town located in the heart of beautiful Northumberland. Rothbury sits on the River Coquet near Cragside House and is overlooked by the famous Simonside Hills.

With some great walking spots nearby Rothbury is a popular place for ramblers to stop off at on their travels for rest, food and drink.

Cragside is a very popular mansion situated just outside of Rothbury town. The mansion and grounds will have you in awe as you discover Lord Armstrong’s spectacular creation, which still stands as a magnificent site to this day! This was the first property in the world illuminated by hydroelectricity.

The grounds of Cragside also hold many treasures including the Iron Bridge, Rock Gardens, as well as the labyrinth and play park for kids.

The Simonside Hills guarantee wonderful panoramic views of the Northumberland countryside and Rothbury where you can see all the way to the coast and across the Cheviots. There is much wildlife to be seen in the area such as roaming goats, grouse, snakes and common lizards. The sandstone rocks are distinct and unique – it almost feels like you have stepped into Middle Earth straight from the Lord of the Rings. A walker’s paradise!
